This is NCE Micro- and Nanotechnology
Horten, in the county of Vestfold, is the hub of the Norwegian adventure within micro- and nanotechnology. Determination and visionary planning have built the foundation for a unique industry cluster with several succesful companies.
The NCE Micro- and Nanotechnology cluster is centered on the production of ICT systems, microsystems and the usage of micro- and nanotechnology (MNT) in miniature. Microsystems are small products that make use of MNT and system technologies which integrate micro sensors, microelectronics and micro actuators. Micro- and nanosystems technology provides new functionality for a multitude of products and enables new product development. Moreover, a range of such items can be produced at lower costs.
MNT is one of the world's fastest growing industries. The success of the MNT cluster is largely due to its ability to foresee how micro- and nanotechnology will become integrated in all areas of modern development and everyday life. The technology particularly impacts areas such as medical technology, biotechnology and energy.
